COMET 102 QUESTION

Post by Don O »

Parts and fine tuning manuels show spacer washers inside the comet 102 clutch. Clutch on my 440 cyclone does not have those washers. How does this affect my clutch action. Looks to be to much space between belt and sheave, granted belt is worn some. Maybe 1/16"
I would like to have less rpm's at 20-25 mph, otherwise works great, plenty power, good takeoff.
Should washers be put in to close up space?

I was mistaken, the washers are there, not where i expected to find them. Would still like to know how to reduce rpm at 20-25 mph.

What year Cyclone?. The 76 440 originally had a black main spring which to me works fine but there was an update to switch to a silver which increased the engagment RPM.

This is a 76 model. I don't feel I need a higher rpm at engagement, I think we could go the other way. Actually engagement is great, to move around in a crowd of people at a show is easy. Three to five mph. I would like it to shift up a gear going out on a trail, maybe I 'm asking for something that can't be done. Would I loose power in a spot where it would be needed

Change the secondary spring to the # 1 hole. If you don't like it, you can always put it back to original # 2.
