Flashback Inside Impulse Line
As I was working on my 73 X8 that I picked up not too long ago, I had it running and she would cough and pop a bit as the RPMs increased, PLUS, I noticed combustion flash once and a while headed down the impulse line coming out of the crankcase. I thought I was seeing things at first but it was definitely flame. I'm tearing the motor down anyway now, but I'm wondering if that indicates the center crank seals are bad or...? Any comments or ideas on this?
