correct pipe selection for my dator clone

Post by liquidatorkid »

i was pondering the idea of having a set of pipes made for my dator clone the other day i was talking to a friend that has a dator he said i could arrow them as long as he gets them back, i see there is a company that can reproduce a pipe, or a set of pipes, if you send in a pair of pipes, they will make you a copy and send you both sets back. i believe the price ranges any wheres from $300-$600 a set

my big question is i am planning on using a kec 340/23LC outta a 78 liquifire 340, would the pipes from a liquidatators KEC-340RS/24LC still work on a KEC-340/23LC i know the porting is different on a dator compared to a liquifire, it wouldnt hurt it as far as performance would it?

how about the stroke and bore, as far as a muffler i dont know how much extra it would cost to make a muffler (if it was possible to make one) or just go with stinger tips?

it sounds like alot of $ for the looks but i wanna make this clone as close to an original as possible but with a raceing twist. it would never be passed as the real deal of course but a clone

thanks for any tips, info and advice guys

I'm no expert on using the Dator pipes on a LF but I have heard that you can use the stingers on an LF and it will increase the performance a quite a bit however you do need to modify the ball ends on them to make them work.

I was just curious, Why would you use a 340 Liquifire engine when there is a gazillion 440 Liquifire engines out there ( more CC = More HP )

the main reason why i was thinking about using the 340 outta the 78 liquifire was the whole sled is $250 it has a good motor (runs on spray) the guy said, i plan on going through the whole engine giving it a complete fresh rebuild. going trought the carbs ect... it has alot of parts that i need, like the alum rear skid, good usuable track, i can use all the steering assembly, guages ect... mainly just for the price i think its a good deal to pick it up for parts, and it would get my dator clone well under way

has anyone ever seen a pair of aaen pipes for the 76-77 john deere ? i have seen the video on youtube with the second gen LF.
