Depending on what year and brand of engines ? CCW cast aluminum and steel ! KAwi/ Kohler cast aluminum and chrome/steel trust me they ding you for the sleeves/chrome bores in the cylinders ! Been there done that before i was into sleds ! Now i SAVE everything ! :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: :lol22:

I wouldn't advise the scrapping of ANY JD snowmobile part unless it is damaged beyond repair. As far as engines go, you won't get any amount worth your effort by scrapping them, and there are always usable parts on them no matter what engine, or how bad the condition.

Most of the time if you pull the sheet metal & the heads then you can soak down the pistons with penetrating oil, Diesel fuel or brake fluid & they will release if that is what is stuck, or use a block of wood & pound the cyl's off once they soak & you unbolt them..
If they aren't stuck too bad where you would damage something beating the pistons out then you might clean them up & salvage them, if the cyl's aren't all rusted them you might be able to hone them out to salvage them also. even if the crank is rusted it MIGHT be salvageable to be a core or where someone like Jerome could salvage some parts off from it, & IF the electrical & flywheel can be used it also could be salvaged.

Just my $.0765 worth

Cyclonefan72,

I know this is a long shot but if the engines you have are marked KEC-295RS/2, KEC-340RS/2, or KEC340RS/24LC DO NOT scrap them! They are worth way more in parts than scrap weight!

If I remember right there are no known replacements for the lower rod bearings in the CCW motors, I myself save anything that might be usable but then again I am a pack rat.

I know this isn't the answer you are looking for but its only worth what someone will pay for it. Several guys here on the list are looking for 295/s engines and parts so I'm sure you will have some interest it.
