New (to me) '82 Sprintfire

Post by Red »

Just picked up today for $250.00. Previous owner had it running/riding last year. It appears to be in pretty good shape. I have yet to start it becasue I want to change lines, filters etc...first. Should be a pretty easy project to put on the trails this year and retore in the future. New seat upholstery is coming this week.

Hi Red.

Unfortunately, that sled is not an 82, its actually an 83. On the '82 models, The red reflector on the tunnel is actually below the decal instead of in the decal like yours. The other give away is the seat belt. If i remember correctly, the '82 models didn't have a seat belt either. Over all, not a bad sled for the price though.

Yeah, I figured that out after I posted it. The build date is 10/82 making it an "83. Changed fuel lines and filter, checked fluids, primed it, and lo and behold, it fired up pretty well. This is my first Fire series sled and my first experience with the Mikuni carb. Now we're just waiting for snow. :needsnow:
