Hi Guys,
I wanted to commend Dave Chambers for placing 4th out of 9 vintage sleds at the USCC race in Oslo. They held a race there after the I-500 was cancelled, so Dave took his I-500 preped Liquifire out for it's first ever race.
Well done Dave, and please post more of your story!

Re: Dave Chambers - Oslo USCC Race
Thanks for the help Joe and john, don, and kenny, when i was about to give up i would get on the jdsleds web site and get fired up
i found this sled in a grainery in idaho and started to build it up. I was about half scared as every arcticle i read said to change the crank seals and i never had time to get that far, but it made it threw the race fine, next year it will have them for sure. With the fox shocks i had Andy from gas shock repair build me handled so great
i wish we would have run farther. A couple things i learned in the race is hydraulic brakes is a must i did not
change them over, i never run studs before and did not realize how much diference they make. I could not get the shaft in the suspension free and run out of time before i had to go to work i tried heating them up and quenching them several times i ruined one front arm doing this and beating on them and no luck a friend told me of a trick he said he could get them out easy i called bullshit on this one and when i got a free day i took the suspension out and tried it . The trick was heat up the shaft and melt parafin wax in the shaft and torque arm i did this melted the wax and let it cool and pushed the shaft out by hand rember this one!!!! after 20 years fixing caterpillars i had never heard that one but i"m sure i will try it again i also installed grease zerks so this don't bind up incase thirty years from now i want to take them apart again. Hopefully we get more racers at next years 500 to gather them cats up i scared them this year and think i will give them fits next year as for that little yamaha
some thing funny on that one he disapears Dont under estimate that driver for sure.I got a bunch of plans for the summer and will be a ebay bandit
