moped engine

Post by Spitfireguy »

i love driving in the winter so i had to find something for the summer to ride. since im not of age to ride a motorcycle i got a moped. really im not aloud to ride it wither because it just passed that u need ur M liesence for them now. but any way. i have a early 1970s motobecane cady moped. its made in france and has a 49.9 cc 2 stroke engine. it calls for 25:1 and i rin 50:1(gas a drained outa the spits) and i dont no if that has anything to do with it but when this bike gets hot it stalls and wont start till the engine is cold again. does any body no y it stalls? i havnt really done anythign cuz iv never seen this before. so i have no clue. any help would be great apraciated

Does it have a fuel pump, or is it gravity flow?

When it quits, does it still have good compression? How about spark, does it still look good? You could have a coil that gets excessive resistance when it gets hot.

it is gravity flow. but u what that sounds right that the coil gets hot and dont work. for this excessive resintance what would i need to do? buy a whole new coil?

That would be the cure.
Before you commit $$, you might check things over with an ohm meter, both hot and cold, both coil and plug wire. It would be nice if you knew what the specs for the coil were supposed to be. But if you can visually see the spark is degraded when it is hot, that would seem to point in that direction.

Thats too funny I stripped 2 of those last summer and sold the parts on ebay. I think compresion could be an issue but youd have to check it cold and hot to verify this. The coil is also a possibility before buying 1 see if you can find a coil from something else 2 stroke you can wire up a coil from basically anything if your creative. I have 1 on those coils sitting in the basement from the moped its got some cracks in the case and I dony know if its good so I never sold it. If you want you can have it just for the cost to mail it. Ive got parts from all kinds a stuff sometimes LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol wow these mopeds keep poping up all over. i found another one in a town over from me that dont have a motor. im surprised the amount of these around. there is several honda mopeds in town. and we even found one in a friends garage that was made by bombadier. probly spelled wrong. i am gonna try and get the coil thats from that one in the other town and if not ill just buy oine new. i am selling the moped now any way. because the police have seem to be on to me. i am looking at a deere 165 riding mower. i serviced this mower last year and it is in good shape. the owner dosnet really use it. i was wondering if you could put a snowblower on these models?
