340/22? Inner crankcase seals

Post by eppjd »

Just talked to the guy building the crank for my 76 Cyclone about the inner seals for it. He told me the 10mm seals are next to impossible to find, so he was going to use 8mm ones. Now he can't find the 8's so he is going to build it with 7mm inner seals. He called to ask me about this but decided it shouldn't be a problem if I get the seals in the (grooves ?) of the case half so they don't move.

This guy has been building cranks for years and he is the go to guy in our area, trusted by everyone. But does anyone have any other input on this?

Thanks Adam

Pardon me for my confusion, but you talking about the seals on the end of the crank? No doubt Matt can get source them too.

nope, I'm talking about the center 2 seals, as in splitting the crank to change them, sorry for the confusion. This guy I use is one of the best and I trust his judgement, just wondering if anyone has come across a situation like this.

thanks, Adam

Do you know the other dimensions of the inner seals? The standard 1302R are 30mm ID x 62mm OD x 10mm wide with a rib. I would assume they would be the same too.
