1980 spitfire bearings

just took apart my little 340 and was wondering about the little o-rings around the bearings ,are these just for securing the bearings in place ? as they don't seem to look like they do much for acting as a seal,and if so when reassembling do you put any type of sealant on these? ....dave

Just hold the bearing in place. Here are some new ones.
