100mph speedo vs 80mph?

Post by farmboy76 »

My 100mph speedo on my '78 440 Liquifire is shot. The guts are falling out the back.
There are several 80mph speedos on eBay for reasonable prices.
Are these a direct swap, or do I need to change out the drive gear down below as well?
I think my drive gear and cable are just fine. They seem to turn when I move at low speeds.
Thanks!

The 80 MPH speedo interchanges with the 100, no other changes needed.

On the other hand you can get another 80 and then when asked "how fast will she go?" you can reply I don't know. The speedo only goes to 80.

Todd, you make a good point!
I went ahead with the 80 mph. There's not a lot of room around here, still too many fence rows.
You can't go more than a mile or so without slowing down.
Thanks for the advice, guys!
