jd 300 clutch

Post by Steven Rempel »

My jd 300 has a 780 Salisbury clutch and the liners are just about done for, I see that they are hard to get and have been tiring for some time. I am looking to get a different clutch but what would work as a good replacement.
Would love to find some liners but need 6 per clutch times 3 sleds tall order indeed. I believe this has a 30 mm taper but am unsure what else would work well.

every time they do come up on ebay i never win have tried 5 times now really need help in finding new ones or a suitable option

Dusters were not invented when the service manual was published.

I like the dusters on low HP sleds.

I would also like to know if anyone has that clutch from DK and what there thought on it are,
if you get this clutch do you have to change the driving clutch as well?
does your belt size stay the same?

If you have a 75 with a sal on it then someone's played with the engine or clutch, or the machine is older. The comet 94c is the clutch that came on 75 300's as far as I can tell. As long as your using the stock belt no issues. The secondary is the same through all the 300's, JDX's were a bit different from the ones I've stripped

ok thanks for the info. none of the sleds i bought have been all original i can't wait to try the comet 94c my sals are all but worn out. on my want list is to try is a duster and compare them all. I got a high torque kit in the one one the bench and need a clutch to try out but i think this sals would blown up on me and waste all my good parts, can't have that.

In the sled models section of this list ( on the portal page ) Matt is showing the 300 as all Salsbury clutched.

Anyone have proof to contradict that?

That's secondary no?

My clutch puller listing calls them a 94c, and that's what a few other places have told me when looking for parts and when I was tracking down a puller for my 295 ax and 340 spitties

They look almost a match to the ones on the DK website. I thought the Dusters were different?

If you are going to retrofit a primary, I would suggest a powerbloc. The easiest clutch in the world to tune. I have picked them up dirt cheap at swaps.

I would agree. The PowerBlock is a good option.
