1983 trailfire voltage regulator

Post by deereoftheyear »

Could anyone inform me how to test a voltage regulator on an 83 trailfire? My headlight keeps burning out really fast and I have suspicions that it is the issue. I tried checking for voltage at the headlight but I'm only getting a volt or two present at the plug which is strange....

Thanks, Luke

Try revving the motor up while testing.

I have extra regulators if you end up needing one. Also check to make sure the headlight wires are in good shape. Ive seen where the wires have worn down to the copper and ground out on the chassis.

You have your meter set to AC volts?
