'83 Sprintfire tank

What's the proper routing for the vent (top ) hose on an 83 Sprintfire fuel tank? Mine is half busted up and what's left of it is stuffed up under the steering column. Also, what's the right length for the internal hose on the other side of this fitting? The service manual from the vintage snow site doesn't show this. The internal hose on my tank is about 8 inches long, but who knows who's reworked what on a machine this old. Thanks, Herb.
