TIMING A CCW 440

Post by flacker36 »

Having a little trouble timing my 72 ccw 440. The JD manual says to set points at .014 and timing at .023 BTDC. It fails to say if that timing # is advanced or static (I'm guessing it is advanced) I am setting it static (on bench & not advancing the weight) so what would I set it to then??? I tried to set it to the .023 and it just backfires and spits, nothing more.

Any help would ge great.

I've spent some time in the ring with these as of late, and I've found that it is not as simple as it sounds.

Have you got yours figured out?
