looked through the service manual and couldnt find any info on the size of fuel line used for the 440ccw engine. The fuel line on the sled has no dimension size on it either. I went to power shop near me and bought some 1/4" fuel line and in line filter they had yellow tygon but walls were very thin and diameter was way too big so i went with standard black rubber fuel line. anyone has any advice or opinion on this, is this 1/4 size ok or do i need metric? also regards to the premix i read in manual to use metallic free oil is this necessary? i found no labeling on the oil i looked at saying whether it was metallic free or not.
Thanks for any help!

Re: fuel lines
The 1/4 inch fuel line is the rgiht stuff. You may have to heat up the end with a hair-dryer to allow it to fit on the fuel inlet port. The proper fuel mix depends on the model of your snowmobile. I am not sure of models pre 74 but generally 50:1.

Re: fuel lines
Thanks, I ended up buying some of the yellow tygon fuel line also. I read alot about the tcw-3 pre-mix oil rich recommended using in the 76 440 ccw and alot said its bad for snowmobile's with powervalves i guess and created a lot of engine failures in these and that this oil was designed for outboard marine motor's and not to use it in snowmobiles. are other people using this tcw-3 oil or something different? can i using synthetic oil for my 2003 firecat that can be used as a pre-mix or injected oil? I'm probably reading into this way too much! lol

Re: fuel lines
The original recommended oil for the JD's had a rating of TCW. Thru the years and revisions, the latest blend is TCW-3. The John Deere engines do not have power valves. You can run any of the newer synthetic blends such as Klotz. All you need is a good quality TCW-3 rated oil.
