Heip identifying engine

Post by behliros »

I need help identifying this engine. It is a piston ported ccw that was transplanted into a JD 800 with a walbro wra31 carb. The ID tags are gone and I can't figure out which series of engine it is. I bought this sled sight unseen and this is what I got. It runs excellent. One thing I noticed is that the coil holders are on the right side of fan instead of on the left side. I am also going to post a picture of the clutch, it also has me scratching my head.

I do but can't get them loaded. One thing that is odd is that the coil is one piece, not seperate like on the deere's. Could the engine be from a other brand of sled?

It probably is. Mercury, Raider, & Scorpion all used CCW early on.

Just based on that picture i'm thinking its a BSE engine whoch look VERY simliar to ccws. The fan directly over the recoil makes me think that.
