295 timing

295 timing
had to reset the points on my kohler 295 2ax and would like to know what to set the timing to BTDC?, I got very close and to runs but want to get it right.

this is from a Kohler manual for the 295-2AX not from Deere, not sure if it makes a difference or not??
Ign. type, ET
Points gap, 0.4mm - 0.016 inch
Timing BTDC, 2.3mm - 0.090 inch
Electrode Gap, 0.5mm - 0.020 inch
Grumpy

Thanks for the pic! I'll do some looking. Now the long shaft that you have your hand on, Im guessing that's the end that is threaded into the cylinder? What is the red apparatus for?

the red thing is the magnetic base for the dial indicator. I turn the mag on to lock the holder to the sled. place the dial in the other end of the arm, set zero on the dial when I find TDC, and go from there, about a 25.00 item

yes the end with the spring and my hand treads into the spark plug hole and the brass shaft then will free flot on top of the piston. the spring is light but enough to keep the brass pin down on the piston while testing
