no get up and go...

no get up and go...
I have a 1976 340 cyclone which has no getup and go, i have cleaned the carb, gas lines new plugs,it starts on the first pull...idles very nice....on a stand it rpms up very nice...take it out and it starts off good till about 20 miles an hour and then just nothing....bogging....any ideas would be nice.....thanks in advance

Look for the simple things first.
-spark on both cylinders
-unobsrtructed exhaust
-open air box inlet
-clogged fuel filter
-broken main spring in the primary clutch

okay so all items listed check out for the good,would the stator be a concern?

If you are getting it up to 20 MPH I do not think it is the stator but it wouldn't hurt to check it anyway. Check out the FAQ section for in on the stator. Is the track adjusted correctly maybe it is too tight.
It could also be shifting to early. In an open area, take off and pin the throttle to get the rpm's up high. Let up know how fast it gets before it starts bogging down.

Guys,
When I lost the high speed windings in one of my Liquidators, it would start right up, rev up good...until it hit 5,500 rpm. It would fall flat on it's face, and occationally rev up a bit to 6 to 6,500 rpm. It would only go 30 to 35 mph at best, but speed up to 50 mph when the motor would rev up a bit.
Could also be a clutch issue, where the driven opens way to easily or such. Putting the sled on a proper stack stand my help diagnose the issue.

ok, thanks for all the ideas, a new clutch and proper size belt and we are in business....any places i can order a clutch rebuild kit for the deere clutch?

And the don't forget the amazing brother for suggesting u try his 90C Duster clutch and for the wonderful work reconditioning the secondary clutch...oh yeah, and for providing a belt closer to the size u needed!! lol
