73 JD Model 400 For Sale

Post by JoeRainville »

Hi Guys,

I am selling a nice, straight 1973 JD Model 400, powered by a CCW 340cc twin. She looks to be all original. The track, drive train and engine all roll over smoothly. Track and skis are in very good shape, and the sled is solid. Seat cover is no good, and the chrome is pretty dulled. Would be an easy sled to bring back to rider conditon.

Asking $200 OBO delivered to Hay Days, the Twin Cities or points south of there.

I am on a sled diet. I am on a sled diet. I am on a sled diet.

I need another sled like a hole in the head.........

If I keep saying it, can I convince myself?

Bump for ya Joe. LOL

Looks like a very solid sled for the money.

Hey joe, I was just curious if the motor turns over and runs? I'm over in western side of Wisconsin, would like to check this one out! Thanks - Rylie

Hi Rylie,

I have not tried to fire it up, but the motor roles over smooth, with a distinct "pop" at each compression cycle. I can check for spark this weekend. Looking at it underhood, she still has the factory fuel lines and Salsbury clutches:

She shows 2,040 miles on the speedo. The undercarriage is straight, and the track rolls smoothly. For example, I had this at a show a few years back, and she kept rolling down the tailgate of my trailer.

I also have a fair amount of NOS parts for this sled, like a muffler, rear axle parts including bearing wraps, misc. fuel system parts, etc that I could toss in for a very reasonable price...

Thanks,

Hi Guys,

I performed a spark check on this 400, and she has bright spark on both sides.

$200 delivered to Hay Days, or points south near I-35.

For an additonal $60 I can toss in a NOS muffer, NOS rear axle parts, NOS Walboro pieces, etc.

Thanks,
-Joe
