Interesting.....go to Jesse's Winnepeg to St. Paul site. There is a picture of Darv's 295/s at the race start stage area, directly in back you will see another 295/s with Roger Jansen on the hood and Crookston MN. To my knowledge this is the only race picture of that sled. Dale Cormican and Roger built it for the race, it is significant because that chassis is the same chassis that was their prototype for their construction of the 340/s. 0ne month post the race we have pictures from Ed showing that chassis testing with the engine up front in ND, both Roger, Dale, Ed, and JR. Pedersen are in the photos.......the devil is in the details! Also from Jesse's great site, look at the 1975 day to day race times for the 500.......oh they were so close for a 3 day race, I have a
opinion on day 2 but will save that for latter. Look at Tom Ottes day 1 time, also Rogers day 3 time. Our day to win was from Forks to Alec!!! Happy holidays, see you in Feb. ride em like you stole them!

Re: Roger Jansens Winnepeg 295/s
Jon,
Was in college when the 74 I-500 was run. Did skip class and caught up with the races near Fergus Falls. Do remember the 295/s flying down the gravel road in the dust and snow fog. Think you said once the 295/s was the fastest sled that year but the poorest handling. I remember being surprised seeing a Deere running so well. In those days my mindset was that only Cat and Polaris (and maybe Doo) could build a sled that could win the I-500. Two guys with AC heritage changed that mindset next year... Interesting story!
