Need some help diagnosing my 800

Post by ljm »

I've been working on my 800. Hoping to get it ready for some snow.

It was running really nice. I started it Saturday, Started fine, idled decent, reved up not too bad, then started to stumble and quit.
It would restart only if I held it wide open. Then it would only rev to 2000 rpm, Running VERY rich. It filled my shop with smoke in no time.

I had an Invader act very similar once. It was the CDI acting up.

Should I start with the CDI on the 800?
Anything to check before I change the CDI?

Thanks
Lloyd

A few possibilities, carberation or ignition. I would check the cdi system first. Follow this link.

Turns out it was a very simple thing. The air box I had put on it was plugged. Switched air boxes. Now it runs like a champ
