1983 snowfire missing at 3/4 throttle

Post by jdlee »

hi I have a 83 snowfire I think at the rev limiter is dealing me fits. where is it mounted and can I just unplug it like a liquifire. I have a 82 at runs perfect. how do you check it ? will not idle and have too hold throttle half open too start no mather what. but once she takes off she'll lift the skis then starts stuttering . I had the carb apart and clean it 3 times it's not it , will rule at out by putting the 82's on it and try it. I will also check for blown head gasket but I don't think at"s it because it pulls hard like the 82. not an air leak because I pressured check it after I put all new gaskets and seals in it. it's has to be the rev limiter at's dealing me fits. thanks for your time. lee

You can unplug the rev limiter. I seen them mounted everywhere. hood, steering brace, side of the tunnel. :bonk:

On Larry's Snowfire it's mounted on the back side of the plate the pull start handle passes through.

Here's a picture of the rev limiter. Try unplugging both plugs. The single wire goes to the switch in the throttle. The bigger plug is connected to the ignition.
