78 LF operating temp

Post by JDXspec »

I had my 78 CC 340 LF out today for the first real test and was wondering if anyone has ever had a LF run slightly on the warm side in powdery snow? I have a aftermarket temp guage and it was reading upto about 160-170 maybe 180. I cked it with a laser temp gun and its correct. It was a workout for the 340 as 45mph was all it could muster in the 12" powder. it was running good otherwise, on hard pack it will do 60mph plus.

Dustin, when in deep snow, the temp will be up higher than normal since you are working it hard. I was out today in 6 to 8 inches of groomed powder with normal temp of around 140.

Thats what I figured, just never have seen the temp climb like that, don't have powder like this much. The 340 has more power than I thought it would
