liquifire carb questions
liquifire carb questions
old carbs were bad on my liquifire so a member here was able to provide a new set. Getting read to install them and when reading the manual i see "Be sure carburetor with red dot on 1982 Models is installed on magneto side of engine." reading further on the only difference i can see for that carb is that the power jet is a 105 vs 110 on the mag side. the sled has 81 stamped so its an 82, however the original carbs on it and the other 82 do not have red dots on them. Are they referring to 83 and 84's? If not where do i find the different sized power jet. if i do not do this what is the impact? Hoping this is not something i have to worry about

Re: liquifire carb questions
The dot was used to identify the carb with the 105 power jet so you didn't have to remove the bowl to verify the power jet size.
The bottom line is that the carb castings are the same. The jets are diffenent. Deere made several jetting changes after the 80s were released. The larger power jet on the PTO side was to provide more fuel at wide open to reduce the likelihood of melting the PTO piston.
If you haven't done so all ready. I'd highly recommend disassembling the carbs to verify all the jetting. Checking the fuel inlet needles for proper sealing is also a good idea.

Re: liquifire carb questions
Nick,
they are already apart. neither have the 105 jetting. So what you are saying the units produced in 81 also require this. Time to hunt for a new jet thank you for the information.

Yes the 80-84 should all use the updated jetting. Some have made small adjustments to their tastes.
I think you've already found the updated jetting but off the top of my head I recall it as
Pilots - 40
Main - 150
Needle - 6DH22 (third notch)
Needle jet - PH4
Mag side power jet - 105
PTO side power jet - 110
I believe Matt has the power jets in the New Breed part store. The power jets are the ones in the bottom of the bowl with the screwdriver slot.
