pls school me ie parts for comet 100c parts

Post by Steven Rempel »

I have a few clutches that need a refresh and cant seem to find a good source of parts that give me any assurance/confidence that they will fit and or work. every thing I find is for the 102 or 108 models. I dont have the money to buy a bunch of stuff that may or may not be what I need, plus the CAN dollar and shipping have really made it harder to justify... you get the point.

I would like to get new weight arms( the arms I have are stamped "F" can only find F2 arms not sure if they are the same also need, pins and washers as well as new rollers, pins washers and the plastic pucks.

here are the Jd numbers of what I am looking for.
AM52999

AM52998 (SUB AM53737) ROLLER

also I am looking for a source for the Secondary buttons Jd part number AM53738 (SUB FOR AM52995)
Are there any parts still available for this clutch (100C)

I realize that JD dose not sell these any more and the 100C parts are basical obsolete, SO WHAT NOW?

F-2 arms are correct. New Breed has the secondary buttons.

Examine the 100-C carefully to make sure it is worth a new set of arms.

You need to check those brass bushings carefully and see if they are usable. I don't know if the new roller kits I have fit the 100C or not but I have a contact at Comet and I'm sure I can find out. I probably also have a 100 laying around that I replaced with something in better condition I can check.

Yes pls if you could find out if the roller kit would fit for the 100c, would be really nice if they did. If you get a chance to look at the one you have laying around and see what condition it in and we'll talk about it. thanks matt

also thanks 400brian it was worth reading tks

Steven,

I have NOS roller kits for the early Comet 102's with the smaller spider buttons. AM54733 is listed to fit the 75 JD 340/s and the 76 Cyclone and Liquifire with the Comet 102-C. I am not 100% sure they fit the 100C's but I think they might. There was as material change from the white buttons to the black, but I am not sure what else. I can try to take a look at one of my 100's this weekend, or I can send you the parts very reasonably.

Hi,

The 100c was replaced by the 102C because of design problems.
Brian is right. Worn out is worn out.
When I compared my old clutches to my new one, I knew I made the right decision to go new.
Kimpex carries them. Wahl Brothers also.
Yes buy a new 102C.
