Want to register our '79 Spitfire to make the paperwork from the original owner officially "ours". We have no intentions of leaving the yard with this machine. Is there any other option for transfer of ownership short of forking out 100.00 to NYS to register this thing?

Re: Registering in NY State
From what I see on Google, it looks like you must register a vehicle if you are transferring ownership in NY. Maybe call the DMV and ask if you can get a title only for a snowmobile without registering it. If you must register, you join a club first and then the annual reg fee goes down to $45 or so when you give them the club membership voucher.
