Hey guys,
I'm at the final steps of my track swap and I'm running into some issues that others have had. My rails go too far up and are way too close to my drivers. Right now its nice because my skid fits perfect into the stock holes. I suppose one option would be to drill new holes further back but I'm not sure if there's enough slack in the track to go too far. I probably would have tried it but there is almost no room in between the driver and the rail as it shows in the picture inside the track. And my drivers are not perfectly spaced because when I pre-assembled it to measure I forgot the damn spacer so everything got shifted to the Mag side. On the left driver I have about 5/16" gap between it and the rail cap. On the Right side the driver is basically touching the rail cap. Has anyone ever trimmed the rails or recommend it?
This was a very salvaged skid as you can see some broken pieces such as where shafts would normally be. I didn't mind it on this one since I figured the lower shaft placement would help me limit the front arm lower to be more like the original. The side by side skid is another different one so don't mind the height difference, I just wanted to show the difference in rail length.
Also I have one new steel shaft and one aluminum, which one goes where?
Original drive shaft, drivers off 01 MXZ 600, track/skid off early/mid 90's indy
Any input is appreciated!
Thanks!

You're going to have to drill new holes, and if not enough track slack, then move and redrill your suspension arms on the slide rails themselves

When I did it, I did not cut rails, or redrill holes. Everything bolted up and worked perfect.
You got to have the right suspension, I tried a few first before I found the perfect one. You suspsension looks to be in there at a shitty angle.
Need more pictures.

First, the aluminum shaft goes in the front, steel in the back. More stress on the back.
I think you would probably be fine removing the end caps. However I think you need to fix your driver spacing, as nothing will ever run straight that way, and will put extra stress on the drivers.

That's what I figured for the shafts. I'm drilling the back four rivets out as we speak and see how everything lines up. Most likely move those drivers again. Still might have to shave inside of the end caps off or take them out. We'll see how it looks. Maybe pictures tomorrow.
Thanks!
Thanks!

For what? Steel is in the front, aluminum in the back

To move the shafts back like some others have.
