Hello everyone
I am new to Jd sleds and recently picked up an 82 trailfire lx. It is a father son project as my dad was a JD apprentice back in the day and worked alot on these sleds. After getting it running and rebuilding the skid we ran it today and what a great machine. We did notice however that they are very tippy in the corners.
My father seems to remember a widening kit for them. If there is such a thing where can I find one and if not can it be built?
Thanks everyone

I
Michael, back in the 70's there were aftermarket ski wideners for the narrow sleds like JD 00's or X's. I for one would not recommend ( even if you could find a set) installing wideners. Just my humble opinion. Glad to see you here on JDSleds, com!!

Re: Widening the skis
In terms of JDs, Trailfires are pretty stable. They are wide enough for their low center of gravity. Earlier mid-mounts on the other hand, you can tip over if you look at them sideways.
