I recently acquired a 75 JDX8
The previous owner had started restoring it and I got it in pieces. The engine has new seals.(I will test for leaks before I install it)
Of course the metering plate screws are broke off in the carb.
Has anyone ever been successful at getting the broken screws out? or is the carb body junk now?
The throttle grip is broken and unusable.
So the million dollar question is.....
Do I put another correct throttle block on it? And find another Walbro carb? Or do I do a Mikuni conversion with a different throttle block?
What are the pros and cons to each?

Re: New to me 75 JDX8
You will get arguments each way on the carb. I have messed with both, and in the end I prefer to leave them the way they came from Horicon for the most part. I have a thread on Walbros lower in this topic and also in the FAQs. If the screws are broke off, I am not aware of anyway to to fix it. Time to get a new Timex. WRA-31s are out there, you take your chances buying them, ebay or guys parting out sleds are your best options.
If you retain the Walbro carb, you can keep the airbox, the control cables, and don't have to hack the dash for the enrichener. I am sure someone has a grip throttle assembly they will part with.

Re: New to me 75 JDX8
Thanks Brian
I have all the parts to put it together either way.
I was just wondering which set up works best.
I have read your write up on the Walbro carbs several times.
This sled will be a nice partner with my 800.
