Took the carb apart tonight. About as clean as I've seen. Some rust on the inlet screen, not a big surprise considering the condition of the tank.

The check valve with screen was found lying in the bottom of the tank. Apparently they switched the supply hose over to the return fitting to make it run, although that only allowed the use of half the tank as it had a short hose. At any rate, there was no filtration a the pickup, though there was an in-line filter installed.

There was some white junk under the circuit plate, but not too bad, all the holes appear open.

That is not all good, because the last time I ran the X8, it wouldn't spin up past 30 mph.
That is with the rear end jacked up in the shop a couple years ago. So, I was hoping I'd find something.

I have nice 10lb. BFH for you to borrow. I wiped it down today and brought it to work, I might varnish the handle on it too!!
