DVD Question

Need someone who knows more about DVDs than I do. All I know is you stick them in the player, and push "Play"

Loren sent me a copy of the "Robert Carlson Introduction" DVD, we saw at the HOF Banquet. Before I even loooked at it, I gave it to my brother to burn another copy.
He brought them back recently, and told me that the copy plays well on the computer, but the sound is choppy on the DVD player attached to the TV.

I tried them out, and found that the original doesn't play on my DVD player at all, it comes up as "No supported data on disc."

The copy he made will play on the DVD player, but while it starts out pretty good, about half way through, the sound becomes choppy, and by the end the sound is all but gone, and the video is now choppy. I do not have DVD capability on any computer I have.

Anyone know what is going on here?

DVDs can play videos in a number of different digital formats. Not all DVD players can play all the formats that are out there but most computer software players can because they get updated from time to time! Find out what format the video was recorded in. ex. MPEG 2 MPEG 4 DIVIX VCD SVCD Quicktime etc. Once you know that you can determine if your player will play it or not!
P.S. If this sounds confusing it is not you, this is very complex. The days of throwing in a Tape and playing on a standard machine are over. Digital is here to stay and until manufactures can decide on a standard format we are all in trouble!
And now you have Blue ray and HDDVD to contend with as well!

I did a quick search on Google for DVD formats, and I came to much the same conclusion.

Now I need to find out if a guy can convert them from one to another.
