I have a 77 340 Cyclone and i was riding it today and it lost its spark could this be the CDI box (B type) or the wireing under the starter recoil? It goes like Crazy its a really fast sled for a 340 it Kicks the 340 everests and TNT off the their tracks and i put a 3 inch lift on it so it goes through way deeper snow now but i have no spark can someone help me plz

Most of the time it is the cdi box.But also check you kill switch for and short and look for loose or broken wires.Ed

can i bypass the killswitch? and just use the key as a kill switch

You can just unplug the kill switch to test to see if that is the problem.If there still is no spark, just plug it back in and will more than likely be the cdi.Ed

Try unpluging the main wiring harness from the sled to the engine and check for spark. If there is a seperate white wire connected to the black wire leading to the cdi, unhook that also and check for spark. If you get spark, there is a problem with one of the switches, just unplug each one, 1 at a time to figure it out. If still no spark and you know how to use a ohm meter, check out this link to check the stator/alternator and timing ring. If all the tests check out, the cdi is bad.

those cdi boxes need to be grounded so its worth a shot to check and clean grounding points also
