Top of the day to all..
I have a 1974 JD300. My question is I cannot find any documentation on how the exhaust exits the cylinders and how it attaches. The reason for the question is the feeder pipe to the muffler is rusted and I am trying to bend a replacement. The collector pipe at the top is also corroded and I'll try to custom create a new piece with a universal Y pipe and 2 elbows . The old collector clamps on the two pipes that come out of the back of the cylinders. These pipes appear to be lose and I cannot see under the engine cover as to how they attach. The snowmobile does not have an exhaust manifold just these two pipes coming out and the JD catalog only list the parts as pipes with nothing else as to what they need to mount. If I have to I'll take the engine cover off but I'd prefer not to as I seem to cause more problems with unrelated parts the further I tear down this old girl ... So with all that said are these exit pipes from the cylinders a bolted on with some kind of flange or are they a press fit or some technology I've yet to master...????
If they are a press fit how do I tighten these fellas back up????
Any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated..
Cheers
