Massey Ski Whiz

Post by Liquifire 4/6 »

I bought an old single cylinder Ski Whiz a couple days ago. It's in pretty decent shape and deserves a restoration. Wondering if any of you know where I can get a decal set for it. Gee, Massey was way ahead of their time....it has the carb mounted in front and the exhaust at the rear like many of the new sleds. Ok, other than that, this thing is major archaic....and heavy.

I think masseys are pretty cool I actually started to collect a few given they were a tractor sled. I did end up selling them to a guy from Syracuse ny it was in the best intrest of my deere sleds. This guys father was a massey dealer in the day and from what he described he might be the Joe Rainville of massey sleds. I will look around to see if I saved any contact info for him. If I can find some he is probably a good guy to ask about decals.

Have you tried your local Massey dealer? Deere used to have a contact for old and outdated parts. I think it was called Dealer Parts Network. All the old stock parts that had not sold within a certain time frame went to them. Massey may have something similar. It might be worth checking into.

Andy,

If you find the information about the "rainville" of Masseys, please post to this thread. I have a Massey Cyclone, which is the step-brother to the Scorpion LC440 Brut that needs a good restoration, but I have yet to find a forum for Masseys or a good place to search for NOS parts outside of the occasional Ebay listing. Anyone having info on Massey sleds would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Travis

I ran across a guy in Michigan who has some NOS and used Massey parts.
I'm not that familiar with Massey stuff so I don't really know what all he had. There were several shelves of items when I was there. Here is the contact info:

Great Lakes Snowmobile LLC
9725 Elm Rd.
Clarksville, MI 48815
Ph. (269) 838-0395
paulrichardson0577@sbcglobal.net

If he can't help maybe who knows who can.

Good Luck!

Thanks to everyone for the tips. I'll look further into it when I get thru harvest.....not a whole lot left here to put thru the combine after the massive hailstorm we had on August 9. It made a heckuva a mess of the crops, buildings and vehicles. I'm posting a pic of a few of the stones I collected in my yard....this was a half hour after the hail....so you can just imagine how large they were before they melted down (that's a full size Bostich office stapler behind them). If I find any good sources of Massey parts, I'll certainly post them.
