my new find

Post by _FIII »

Found this one down the street from me about three blocks. I was sitting under a tree in the guy's front yard. Asked it was for sale and he said no not really

:( but if you want it load it up today, I just want it gone

:D . Got it home yesterday, gave it three primes and one pull and she fired right up. It is a 72 Snojet Superjet 433 with elec start. All it needs for the snow is one new bogie, speedo cable and probably plugs and wires just because. It is all original and was never stored outside, his grandpa bought it new in 71. Not really a Snojet guy but do you blame me for not passing up this one? Richard

Nice sled, Richard. And you sure can't argue with the price. It looks to be in great shape.

it is in great shape for the year. Hood has no cracks in it, seat has no tears and is still soft, plastic around motor is not cracked and the small louvers that are in it are all there. And even the fiberglass cubby at the back of the seat is in mint shape. The cigarette lighter even works so now I can take up smoking while I drive around

I don't think the boys at Sno Jet really wanted to encourage anyone to smoke....they just put the lighters in so you'd have a place to plug your GPS into (they had alot of forsight). Here's a pic of my 73 Star Jet 338.

Hey Paul, didn't know you drove a Delorean. The dog in the pic is a mutt. Mom was a collie husky cross like my other dog. Have to be careful out on the farm cause she looks like a coyote. Not the one in the pic. This pic always makes me laugh.

dog looks like a regular dog in both pics.. i know of at least two of those snow jets around not quite in that good shape but there still around..

Im more interested in the raider in background it looks in nice shape and what would probably kill you is that i have about 6 tachs for those that were nos fitted on my jds nice tach. found them in local company that deals in surplus.. tachs made by arrow if it helps have access to a nos speedo i bought for a friend who had a raider but sold it before he got his christmas present of the speedo i bought him.

Hey, Rodimus....I'd luv to snag a tach for the Raider. The one in the pic is a 340 which didn't come with a tach. I have a 440 that has both speedo and tach and the dash just looks more complete. How much for the tach? Also, are you interested in parting with the NOS speedo? I managed to find some NOS Raider idler wheels at Princess Auto. It's amazing the stuff they have in those stores and for the most part, they have no idea what the stuff is for. The Raiders are a hoot to ride....feels just like riding a go cart on the snow. And they're really warm too with your legs enclosed. The bad part is, they're terrible on rough trails. Not much for suspension and your knees don't absorb any of the shock...it all goes straight to your spine. You're in Winnipeg, aren't you? Wanna come to one of the best vintage derbys around? I stage one here near Roblin and this year it will be on Feb 2. Two rules: no sleds newer than 1984 and no alcohol. 20-25 miles of impecably groomed trail mainly in a treed valley. Trophies for best dressed, judges choice, peoples choice, farthest distance, oldest sled, etc, etc. We also throw in some type of treasure hunt type of event into the mix along with a vintage snowmobile trivia contest. If you can make it, you're most welcome to take a Raider for a spin.

PS: this invitation applies to anyone on this site
