I am looking for one that will fit the 500 series motor, there $683.00 just for the crankshaft brand new from the factory so i figure a good used one will do if I can get it cheaper than $600...

I've got one for a 1998 Indy 500, but it has larger bearings on the PTO side and won't fit your cases....otherwise, it's identical. Somewhere around 96, Polaris started using the larger PTO bearing cranks on the Indy 500, so make sure if you make a deal on a used one, that it is from a pre 1996 model, maybe go pre 95 to be sure cause I'm not 100% sure on the year they changed. Also, keep in mind that a crank from an early to mid nineties Indy 440 will also fit your Indy 500.....and with slight mods to the bearing retaining circlip, you could even plop in a crank from a 488 Indy Trail engine (that's what I'm currently using in my Indy 500 Widetrack), though I wouldn't really encourage anybody to use a Trail crank in a regular Indy 500 as it lacks the bearing retaining pins used on the liquid cooled engines. I figured I'd get away with it on the L/C 500 engine in my Widetrack because it only spins at 7200 RPM instead of 8000 like the Indy 500's. When my crank packed it in, the only crank I had kicking around was from a Trail and so far, it's been working well.
