I just was given a 1976 John Deere 340 Liquifire with 873 miles on it. It was found in a barn in southern Wisconsin. The last time it was registered was in 1999.
I am a Deere owner from way back starting with the JDX 6. In 1986 when my kids were all in private high school & two in college I had to sell all me toys to pat tuition.
Anyway I want to restore this sled and don?t know were to start.
Can you get me started in the right direction?

What kind of shape is it in? Is it in nice shape and just needs some TLC or is it hammered?

The engine pulls over, feels like good compression, needs a track it only has 2/3's of the track left. need's seat to be recovered & windshield is hard to see through Not sure if it is inbeded dirt or scratched that bad.
I haven't had a chance to even clean the leaves from the belly pan or anything. I don't see any body damage.

1) Clean
2) Disasemble
3) Clean, repair, replace,
4) Paint
5) Reassemble
6) Adjust, tune, test
At that point you are good to ride, or wait for snow.
If you ride it, you can expect to do more of the above :^)

Restoring 340 LiquiFire
I have a 76 340 liquidfire in my back yard. Its in good shape. It needs a waterpump. I was thinking of restoring it, but dont have the time now. I was thinking of putting it on ebay, but I will let you have first try. It needs the seat recovered, windshield, snowflap, and coolant temp.
