I have a 1980 Liqufire that has been giving me fits. I have gone through carbs and clutches. Here is what I am running for jets.
main 150
Power Jet
PTO 110
MAG 105
Jet Needle 6DH22-3
Needle Jet 159 (P4)
Throttle Valve 3.5
Pilot Jet 40
Air Screw (turns open) 1.5
clip position 3 (w/ nylon washer)
Here is the problem I am experiencing. After letting it warm I drive it roughly 3/4 of mile just above clutch engagement (I live in Sub and am trying to be courteous of my neighbors) before I can open it up. Once I get to the point where I open it up it will bog shortly thereafter (or before) and eventually choke off. I have to wait about 15 mins before it will start again (it acts like it is flooded). I have verified it is not a spark issue by using a timing light. I have also used the starting fluid trick to see if it is not sealed but that does not seem to be the case either. All fuel lines have been replaced including the inline fuel filter. I also checked the in tank check valve and screen. Compression on both sides is about 125 psi. I guess that only leaves the fuel pump. Temp guage is usually around 180 F. Have any of you experienced a problem similar to what I am experiencing?
Thanks

To me it sounds like you have 2 problems, dirty pilots and mains. I am running 160 mains, I think...

First Temp of 180 is a little hot. Shouldn't let it get above 150. I have the same jets and have had the same problem. It bogs wicked until its opened up. Try readjusting the Chokes. Also are you using the oiler or running premix. BOB

I am not running premix. What temp does the red zone correspond to on the factory gauge?
I have already experienced not having the chokes not adjusted right :-) so I am pretty sure it is not that. Regarding bogging it does not bog at all when 1st started.

Sounds like it's too rich. I'd still go back and make sure the chokes aren't sticking somewhere and that they are for sure adjusted all the way down. The only other thing besides being jetted way to fat that comes to mind is if the floats are adjusted too high or the inlet valves aren't working.

I run the same jets and My sled runs fine I guess. When you start it and warm it up does it want to die or does it stay running at a constant idle. After it gets warm when you give it gas does it shoot right off or does it hesitate. BOB
