I have a '77 Cyclone that just quit on me. It has no spark. I went through the testing sequence in the FAQ but I have a different CDI. They have round plugs and the rectangle plug on the block only has two green/yellow wires coming off of it. The CDI is a ElectroMag Power Pack which I can't find any info to for tesing the wires. If anyone knows the pinout/wiring diagram for this CDI or a way that I can test/replace it that would be greatly appreciated! I pulled the CDI out and took a pic.
Thanks,
Pete Young

I have a 76 cyclone and I'm going through the same thing as you. My cdi looks identical to yours. from what I have learned is that if you test everything else that could be the problem and the sled still does not run, that in itself is a test of the cdi. they do sell aftermarket units

Tincan,
There was a change to the cdi connectors in 1977 to the round plugs. Testing the stator/timing ring is still the same as outlined in the FAQ section. The service manual explains how the dealer mechanics tested the cdi system using special equipment. Without the equipment you can not test the cdi box itself. Testing the stator, timing ring and coils reduces the problem to the cdi box if everything else is fine.
There are several aftermarket cdi boxes available. Consider the cost and if any offer warranties. You will see that Hewtec offers a warranty, plus he has provided use with a method of testing the stator/timing ring.

Rich , the rare one you mentioned.... is that the same as the Rupp Nitro used?
Did you find a set of uprights for me?
I could also use a set for the 600.
