HELP!!

Anyone have any ideas what could cause the headlight to blow? We are up in Eagle River and the headlight keeps blowing on my buddies 80 LF.

All the other lights work just fine.....only the headlight keeps blowing. I think we are on the 3rd or 4th one. Had an original bulb that lasted all day but it decided blow when we decided to ride at night. So put in another halogen which blew right away.

Any help would be appreciated so we can get back on the trail tomorrow.

It may be that the voltage regulator is going bad or has a bad ground to the sled frame.
Loosen the ground screw or bolt and retighten.

If the voltage regulator was the problem wouldnt all the lights blow along with the headlight? this has got us confused.

I had a 80 Trailfire and it only blew the headlight and it was the voltage regulator. Hope you guys are having a great time. It seemed really wierd leaving Horicon yesterday and not going to the HOF. Tell Paul, Brian, Kevin, Ross, Troy, and the Rainville clan hi. Duane

Seams like smaller wattage lamps like dash and tail are not as sensitive to over-voltage conditions as the headlight is.

The only other reason I can think of where only the headlight would burn out is vibration.
Are the damening springs all installed on the headlight housing and not torqued down to tight?

Well another good day in Eagle River. Went to Image picked up another voltage regulator and hign/low beam switch.

Changed everything out and replaced the bulb. Didnt have any problems today!! The headlight lasted all day and we were able to ride at night tonight.

Yea, I have noticed that problem too, I have a Ski-doo with a bad voltage regulator and it only blows the headlight bulb, the brake lights still work. Maybe because they are not on that much
