I recently purchased a Trailfire that I thought was a 1980. I noticed it had a painted tunnel and then looked closer to find it has a painted ALUMINUM tunnel. Is this original and in what timeframe did Deere do this? Does anyone have any insight on this? I thought they went from a painted steel tunnel to a polished aluminum tunnel but maybe I am wrong.
Thanks
Blake.

Black,
The 79 TF had a steel tunnel. All the 80 sleds were aluminum, and I also believe my 80 Sport is also painted an aluminum color. I think by 82 Deere used the polished tunnel. Not sure about 81 since I don't have one in the barn.
Your sled is at least an 80. Check the tag to be sure.

Thanks for straightening me out on the 81's Rich. There are only a few model years of Deere sleds I don't have, and 81 is one of them and 79 is the other.
Thanks, and keep an eye out for a care package,

Thanks for the info guys. According to the Tag it should be an 80 but the painted aluminum tunnel threw me off. Thanks for straigtening me out!
