76 Liquifire 440 Horse Power?

Post by Cabindweller »

Hey

Just wondering what the horse power rating is for a 76 Liquifire 440?

One other question, what mm carb belongs on a 76 Cyclone 440?

Thanks

Jerry

34mm on the Cyclone carbs, Liquifire HP I would guess is around 55-60

This brought up a question i always had in my mind why back in the 70's would you buy a 340 liquifire when the cyclone 440 was cheaper and had more horse power.

I'm thinking
340 Cyclone~ 34hp
340 Liquifire~ 45hp
440 Cyclone~ 46hp
440 Liquifire~ 55hp

For 76 anyway I think 78 were Slightly detuned?

I believe that the std 78 340 Liquifire was around 47-49 HP & the detuned 78 CC liquifire was 45 HP, the ICCSF & Winnipeg rules stated 45 HP + or - 10% so What I couldn't understand was that if you add 4 HP to the 45 of the rules you were still in the limits of the rules, so why the detuning kit?? Jon, Rich, Rainville, Bob, WildfireII????
