Well I got some new NOS head gaskest from Rich for my 80 liquifire. I cleaned the surfaces & looked for distrotion around the studs & found none. I put them on & torqued to 16 foot pounds in criss-cross patten. Put everything back together & found out it wouldn't start. I ended up finding out I had air leaking around the four studs that come up from the crankcase. The short studs from the cylinder to the head did not leak & I have no coolant leaks. This is taking place in both cylinders.
The Kaw manual seems to recommend a range of 19 - 22 foot pounds torque for the heads.
I have two options,
1. torque them some more (19 - 20 foot pounds) to see if it seals the leak
or
2. remove the heads & start all over.
Any recommendations before I end up taking them off again?

For starters make sure you peel all that old silicon crap off of those gaskets and use some fresh stuff but only a very thin layer. Then get rid of the acorn nuts and go get some 6mm nuts so you dont have to worry about bottoming out in the acorns when you try to torque the heads.
