I'm an idiot and starting question?

Post by AJ Sparko »

AFter I rebuilt the duster clutch on the Snowfire, rejet the carb's mainjet for 180 due to slight exhaust and lack of airbox... took it out for a spin and it ran excellent! Excellent throttle response, plenty of power throughout the entire range. Ran it hard, checked the plugs to be sure and they were a nice color and I was a happy man.

Fast forward 4 hours I go to start it and it fires up, then dies...hmm? Pull pull pull and nada, backfires a couple times so I think carb...I'm an idiot. I spend the next 2 hours into that carb and my brother finally checks the plugs which were new that morning NGK9's, looked good but when he checked them individually for spark the one had NADA. Less than 20 minutes of riding and it was dead. Popped two new ones in and back in business.

Now the only thing I noticed is it's kinda hard to start. I just went out there to the shop, heated to 55 degrees and pulled 3 times, nothing. Flip the choke, started and died. Choke off, fired up, slow at first but picked right up and ran great. Is that normal? Just wondering if I leave it out in the cold will it be even harder to start...eek.
