Going to Sound like a truck drivers story

Post by ICCSF 108 »

This is going to start out sounding like a truck drivers story
You ain't gonna believe this s**t, But,
 I was talking to a guy tonight who's father in-law used to work at the Kohler engine plant back in the late 70's. He said that his father In-Law has a quit a few one of a kind Proto motors of various sizes that Kohler had produced or was planning on introducing to like JD or Sno-Twister or other Mfg back in the 70's or 80's. :suprised:
Now is where the story gets very interesting, he mentioned that his father In-Law was looking for a Spitfire chassis as he wanted it to install the 3 cyl Free Air 500cc proto motor that Kohler had built for a proto-type 500cc Spitfire?? He said he didn't know if this was something that Deere had requested or if the Kohler engineers had just came up with this??? SOO maybe the photo that was posted a while back with a 3cyl. in a spitfire wasn't as far fetched as was thought?? :snooty:
Ed, Jon, your comments on this?? Was this ever tossed around??

Kenny

Kenny,

The only thing I can add to this is that I know Kohler campained hard with Deere to be the replacement motors for the Kiortz line, but Kawi beat them on price, and possably features.

I would be very cool to see some of the motors Kohler proposed to provide Deere!

I would assume it to be a 340 f/a with an extra cylinder tacked on it.. thats what most other brands did. Someone with a tig welder, 2 340 f/a, and some creativity could build an example pretty easy. I was always gonna do it with a pair of the 6 port suzuki 500 f/a and build a 750 triple for my eltigre. But they are getting expensive these days.
