spitfire piston meltdown

went ice fishing fri.out about 4 miles from shore when it happened.got trailered in took the snowmobile to my shop and pulled the head.piston on the recoil side, same one i had rebuilt last year any body know what would cause this, fuel mixture is 50 to 1,I run with the air box on but not the hose, temp outside was 23 degrees.should be able to run 4 miles without a meltdown right....damn these free air deeres!!!!

If you get a vacuum leak on the intake manifold or a crank seal went bad. Or if the carburetor is dirty it will run lean and burn down. Keep that carb clean.
