I need to know what are the stator numbers or model number of stator for a 75' 400 with a 340. The sled is not at my house and I need to source a part but the part guy needs to know what the number is.

what is the mfg date stamped on your tunnel is that '75 if so its probably a '76 which would need a stator a 75 like harley said would have points. If its a 76 you and I are in the same boat "parallel universe" PM me if you find some good stators.

This machine with start cold idle fine. Once it warms up it will bog and die at high idle then won't start or hard start until it cools. We have tried spraying ether at the crank seal to see if the engine would rev up and the seal seems okay. I thought it may be the high speed on the stator. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Providing it doesen't have a CDI box installed, this machine has a points ignition and therfore not that type of stator. It has three internal coils, one for each spark plug, and one for lighting. Also 2 external coils (where the spark plug wires go, under the white plastic cover). It is possible that one of the internal or external coils is bad, but only shows the problem when heated. When it dies, check spark on the plugs, to try and determine which side is bad. Then, try switching the wires on the external coils (switch the red and white wires, AND the plug wires at the same time, and see if the problem jumps from one side to the other.
