BSE engine in a '73 Moto-ski

Post by spudnut »

Picked up a freebie Moto-ski yesterday. It has a BSE engine, which I am not familiar with. A little searching on the internet tells me you cannot really get parts for these things, seem to be specific to Moto-ski for only a couple of years. Anyone have any experience with these engines, good , bad, indifferent? Thanks.

Decent motor.
Yes, parts are an issue as aftermarket items are not out there but NOS parts can be found.
I got a set of rings for one last summer at a fair price. Seller offered pistons but I did not need them.

The BSE motors where made by the same company in Japan that made the CCW Kioritz motors used in our JD sleds. Many parts are interchangeble including the pistons. Several BSE motors were made by Rotax, the 400 F/A motor used in the 74-75 Moto-Ski TS400, same motor as used in the TNT F/A, and the 73-75 Futura 295 used a BSE Type 294 Rotax engine.
