Spitfire Drive Bearing Question

Post by scorp11 »

Took apart the spitfire rear skid and pulled the drive shaft. The bearing on the secondary clutch side did not have a locking collar on it. Looking at the service manual, I can't really tell from the photo and found nothing saying whether it should.

It was not spun and near as I can tell it gets pinched between the secondary clutch and the step that is built into the drive shaft.

Question is, should there be a lock color on this ? If so, since there is a step in the drive shaft there, do I just use one use one from a different larger ID bearing ?

Also, does anyone know a BCA bearing number for each side for this ?

Thanks much,
Kevin
