440 23/lc
440 23/lc
I need a head gasket for my 440 motor and I was also wondering how hard it is to change out cylinders? and where to get them. I had a wrist pin clip break and the pin came sliding out enough to contact the cylinder wall and took a good chunk out of the side. Thanks
Re: 440 23/lc

You use to have a few choices when the parts were available. There used to be several oversize pistons available which required a bore-job for fitment. check out DennisKirk or any of the other major vendors. Years ago I had new sleeves installed and used standard pistons in my 76 Liquifire. You may find NOS gaskets on Ebay.podeere wrote:I need a head gasket for my 440 motor and I was also wondering how hard it is to change out cylinders? and where to get them. You may also find a good used mono-jug and pistons on Ebay.

Re: 440 23/lc
I can get the cylinders that are in it now bored out?? and just get pistons to match the new bore like .40 over? I asked on here a while ago for a head gasket and I cant remember who had one on here for like $20. If anyone has one on here I would be interested in buying one. I cant find one on dennis kirk without buying the whole gasket kit.

Yes, the cylinders are boreable. They need to be inspected by a machine shop to determine the correct oversize piston.
If the scoring is to deep, the 0.040 over pistons will not work, then a used jug is on order.
Here is a link to DennisKirk with the available pistons.
66mm=standard
66.25mm=0.010
66.5mm=0.020
67mm=0.040

No, it raises the compression to excessively.podeere wrote:Can I use a 340 head on a 440 engine??
